Sumon on the Tabla and Bongos


Sumon's first music lesson came from elder sister Sabina when he was five years old. He had his first Tabla lesson when he was in high school. He was the founding member of his college band, "Crystal Kids". After the college years the band members moved on to fulfill their professional academic dreams.

For the last eight years in Mobile, Sumon was involved in various music groups such as Mobile Sangeet Milan, Jhankar, and The BB's. With Neetol always on his side, they performed at numerous shows/concerts/programs in Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. Almost eight years in a row on Thanks Giving Day, they organized and performed at the cultural show in Mobile. Besides, he was involved in various cultural shows, Diwali functions, a Musical Night, and a couple of weddings. Sumon is now fully dedicated to "Jhanak". He plays Tabla, Bongo, Keyboard, Guitar, and a few percussion instruments. He sings a few songs as well. With the "Jhanak" buddies ...... Neetol, Deepak, and Mohan, Sumon's goal is to create and refine "good Indian music."


After working for Carter Investment Corp. for 6 years, Sumon decided to change his job environment. At present, he is working full time with SKCO Investment Corp. He has been one of their top performers since January 2000.


Sumon received his Bachelor's Degree in Science from University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. His major was Mathematics and minor was Computer and Information Sciences. He also has an Associate Degree in Science from Bishop State Community College. He plans to enroll in the graduate program soon.


Sumon lives in Mobile with his lovely wife Noor, who is also a graduate from the University of South Alabama.
